The first community in Monterey County to pass such a resolution, and we thank Mayor Bruce Delgado for helping steer this through, Council Member Frank O'Connell for his support, and for Council Member David Brown who made two important changes in the wording of the Resolution and speaking eloquently in favor of it during the last City Council meeting. And for those in attendance speaking on behalf of the Resolution, thank you!

"Therefore, Be It Resolved that the Marina City Council calls for amending the the U.S. Constitution to establish that:

1. Corporations should not be exempt from campaign finance restrictions on the basis of campaign contributions being the same as political speech protected by the First Amendment; and,

2. Corporations are not natural persons, and therefore are not entitled to the same First Amendment rights provided to individual persons."
