A Vision for the Future of Marina

Bruce Delgado, Mayor of the City of Marina, will address “A Vision for the Future of Marina.” Marina is the gateway to the Monterey Peninsula and home to the Marina Coast Water District, which is planning a major desalination facility to provide water for growth on the former Fort Ord and the Peninsula. In the past several years, Marina has approved over 4,400 residential units, but with changes in economic conditions the City is reconsidering the design of one of its major projects. Also on the City’s agenda is its relationship of the proposed light rail system and transit-oriented development. Understanding how these issues intersect will help us plan for our future.

Voting Integrity: Examining the Process

California Secretary of State Debra Bowen

Voting Integrity: Examining the Process

In 2007 newly elected California Secretary of State Debra Bowen ordered an independent examination of California's electronic voting systems. When this "Top to Bottom Review" revealed troubling flaws, she limited the use of touch screen voting machines and imposed significant security and auditing requirements. Bowen's decision was met with resistance by voting system vendors and many county elections officials.
Join us to hear from this pioneer in open government reform, election integrity, and personal privacy rights. Ms. Bowen will provide a short presentation, followed by a lengthy question and answer session.
