The Green Party of Monterey County is the local county-wide political organization of the Green Party of the United States.

County Council Members

Jan Shriner
Jan is an environmental educator pursuing social justice and ecological balance for all.
Her areas of special concern are:
  • Fair and clean elections
  • Single payer healthcare
  • Sustainable community planning
  • Clean and reliable water through public utilities
  • Transparency of local government

Frank Lambert
Frank is a retired truck driver and a former Teamsters union shop steward and organizer.

George Riley
George is involved in water rights issues and election integrity. He is the founder of Citizens for Public Water.

  • Member, Salinas Traffic and Transportation Commission (former Chair)
  • Member, Transportation Agency for Monterey County Pedestrian/Bicycle Advisory Committee
  • Member, Salinas Pedestrian/Bicycle Advisory Committee
  • Vice-President, Monterey County Bicycle Advisory Group
  • Former member, Salinas Police-Community Advisory Committee
  • Contributor to current Salinas General Plan -- wrote the alternative transportation section

Eric is active in several local campaigns, including Alan Styles for Assembly and Jyl Lutes for Supervisor

Tim Wilson
Tim is a former Software Engineer and is involved with energy issues, open participatory democratic government, and community sustainability.
His areas of interest are:
  • Single-Payer Universal Non-Profit Healthcare
  • Re-localization of community economies through local resident-owned small businesses in manufacturing and retail; Cooperative worker-owned businesses.
  • Restructuring of financial and monetary systems for community economic benefit; community-owned banks and local money systems;
  • Local energy generation and distribution; energy independence
  • Transportation development: High-speed rail, local electric commuter rail, electric mini-bus or "jitney" system, community-shared cars (like Zipcars)
  • Public water ownership and management; Rain water catchment, filter, and distribution systems; Gray water reuse
  • Election integrity; open/public legislation tracking and analysis for accountability
